Story of Holiday Plaza

<Back to Landing Page

Holiday Plaza is a music project I Ashtyn/Robin Strong started in November of 2023 when I was 16 y/o. Holiday Plaza varies in genre from indie-folk (see Ærbitrary Œbituary) to indie-pop-rock (see 3-Dimensional Sex Magazine) to alt-rock (see Juniour). The name Holiday Plaza come from the name of a strip mall formally named The Holiday Plaza in Holland, Michigan (my home town).

In the past (2020 onward), I had many different music projects, I had been attracted to music for a long time since I come from a family with a lot of musicians, most notably my grandfather who was in many bands throughout his life, he sadly passed away in June of 2010, just a few days before my 3rd birthday. When I was in 5th grade I joined my middle school's band program and played trumpet, which was my first instrument; I continued playing in my school's band until the end of my eight grade year (2021) which is when I picked up the guitar, which is when I made the decision to no longer play in my school's band. At the beginning of my eighth grade year I started my first music project, which was a youtube channel that featured 8bit recrations of songs that I liked or were requested to me these songs were: Through The Fire and Flames - DragonForce, Your New Boyfriend - Wilbur Soot, Buttercup - Jack Stauber, Fuyu No Hanashi from Given, Crabrave - Noisestorm, Devil Town - Cavetown, Still Alive from Portal, Fallen Down - Toby Fox, Taunt - Lovejoy, Green - Cavetown; Your New Boyfriend would end up being the most successful ending up with 19,000 views, which is still my most successful song/video. Around the beginning of my freshman year of highschool (2021) I started my next music project RoseAura a name that start as a minecraft username and is still the name I use online. That project never ended up seeing a release, but I had a plethora of songs that I worked on. One album under that name is called "There's a Hole in Wyoming" which the tracks Jolly, There's a Hole in Wyoming (michigan), Scruffy Coat, Tattle, Kyser, GfaC, BumBumBumBumB--. The other was called "Crack Up Thy Wall" with the tracks, Capo 7, Tourtoise Shell, 2007, Peninsula, and Clock. I spent nearly my entire freshman year working on those songs, but I never ended up releasing them since I grew to hate them. At the start of my sophomore year (2022) I started "MothBee/MoþBee" Which had 4 releases being: MothBee Summer 22, MothBee Fall 22, Maybe I Was Boring (full Wilbur EP cover), 20 Million Degrees of Freedom, ¿Are You Dead Yet?, and from the backseat of my car. The last two later became the first two releases for Holiday Plaza.
